It’s relentless. Surely we’re in the end times. It certainly feels like things, in general, are speeding up, escalating, and way past our control.
War, dictators, oil. Pandemics, climate collapse, capitalism, cost-of-living-crisis. Got the T-Shirt and locked into a monthly subscription I can’t cancel.
Surely it’s the end of this era, maybe the end of everything. Doom-scrolling into oblivion.

Like many, when the chips are down and the bombs are falling – I listen to hardcore techno.
I think it’s perhaps some sort of regression; reminds me of happier times when I wasn’t so aware of the constant toil or war and other grown-up problems.
My current go-to track is Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo – Live at London (The Big “Bang” Mix)
I’m not going to wax lyrical about it (I could – potentially the first ‘happy hardcore’ record? The samples? Every hair on my body standing on end when the first riff kicks in, still, every fucking time?), but I won’t, cos there’s a war on – but needless to say, aside from Midas ‘Groove Control’ – this is probably my all-time favourite, timeless hardcore track.
